Brussels
Overview
For more than 20 years, Crowell’s Brussels office has provided local and multinational clients with a wide range of dispute resolution, regulatory and counseling, and corporate and transactional legal services, both in Belgium and Europe as a whole. With more than 35 lawyers, our team helps clients to manage their businesses, protect and commercialize their products, mitigate risk, resolve disputes, and navigate the often-complex regulatory environment. We provide both local businesses and leading multinationals with pragmatic, commercial solutions to the challenges that they face. We also offer a one-stop shop for our international clients as they navigate Europe’s multiple jurisdictions and regulatory requirements.
7, Rue Joseph Stevens
B-1000 Brussels
We represent many of the world’s leading multinational companies as well as local businesses in diverse industries, with particular experience in the following areas:
Our Brussels office has a strong tradition of serving the local community. Through our pro bono work, we assist and represent those who desperately need help in matters such as immigration, civil law, and domestic violence. In addition, several of our lawyers offer their services to the “Legal Helpdesk,” a Brussels Bar initiative, and we also periodically set up a firm weekend “Call-in Clinic,” which offers free first-line legal advice.
In addition to our long-standing pro bono efforts, we support a number of excellent non-profit organizations that tackle some of society’s most pressing issues, from combatting homelessness to the fight against cancer. Our team members regularly volunteer in local organizations, and we organize an annual Day of the Service for our lawyers and staff to serve with local charitable causes. Our Brussels office has a special relationship with the nonprofit “Road to Glory,” which was co-founded by one of our own associates and supports underprivileged youth through kickboxing.
Crowell’s Brussels office is strongly committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our Brussels Inclusion Committee was founded in 2019 with the aim of creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment and ensuring that diverse lawyers are given opportunities to excel. We are also active within Crowell’s firmwide Women in Leadership Initiative (WLI), which is dedicated to the recruitment, retention, professional development, and advancement of our women lawyers.
Our office is a proud co-founding member of the Legal Diversity and Inclusion Alliance (LDIA). This initiative brings various Brussels-based law firms together with the aim of building a diverse and inclusive workplace, where everyone benefits from equal treatment and opportunities.
Innovation is key: a law firm cannot stand still and Crowell understands the benefit that new techniques and strategies bring to our clients. For decades, we have prided ourselves on client-focused legal service delivery – pioneering alternative fee arrangements and promoting risk sharing to best meet our clients' often unpredictable needs. By putting a strong emphasis on innovation, we not only improve our business, we also support our clients in their mission to keep up to date with technological developments. Some examples of our innovative approaches include:
- Crowell Hub: Legal Knowledge Library for clients and contacts
- Crisis Response App: Easily accessible tools and resources for users managing crisis scenarios
- Whistleblowing Virtual Assistant: Supporting compliance with the EU Whistleblower Directive
