Washington, D.C. – May 30, 2024: Crowell & Moring hosted its 25thannual George Bailey Public Service Awards ceremony. Named after the hero of the classic movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” these awards recognize the firm’s lawyers and staff who have made a substantial impact on the lives of others through their pro bono work.
“Our gathering for this event demonstrates the power of pro bono to connect us – all the way from the West Coast to our offices in London and Brussels,” said Susan M. Hoffman, the firm’s Public Service Partner, speaking to a standing room only audience. “A huge need exists for pro bono legal help on child custody, landlord tenant and domestic violence cases. In order to meet the needs of these individuals, to ensure them access to justice, we need to break out of our legal practice comfort zones.”
The recipients honored include:
- Partners: Jodi Daniel (DC); Laurel Malson (DC)
- Counsel: Amy Pauli (DN); Crinesha Berry (DC)
- Senior Counsel: Joanna Fuller (OC); Jacob Bachman (CH)
- Associates: Cori Schreider (DC), Kari Ferver (OC)
- Rookie of Year: Tara Singh (NY)
- International Attorneys: Emilie Condie (London); Camille DeGrave (Brussels)
- Practice Support: Pam Davis (DC); Shana Harris (DC)
- Staff: Rebecca Carr (DC); Sara Raffel (SF)
- Team Award: Federalsburg Voting Rights Case. The team was led by Dan Wolff, and included Cori Schreider, Katie Aber, Bradley D. Hutter and Keith Allen Kaider.
“The toughest part of the George Bailey awards event is that we aren’t able to recognize each member of our community who has dedicated themselves to participation in the public service efforts of the firm and to thank them for making a difference,” Hoffman said.
