James K. Stronski

Senior Counsel

Overview

Jim Stronski is a senior counsel in the New York office of Crowell & Moring, and a member of the Intellectual Property Group. He also is a member of the Trade Secrets Working Group, and the Litigation & Trial Department. Jim is a first-chair trial lawyer who concentrates his practice in IP litigation and related commercial disputes, as well as advice on trademarks and related licensing issues and disputes. He has litigated in courts nationwide for over 25 years. Jim has been listed in the New York Super Lawyers Metro Edition for intellectual property litigation each year since 2006.

Jim’s practice includes patent litigation, trade secret litigation and counseling and trademark and false advertising litigation and counseling and copyright litigation. Jim also represents pharmaceutical companies concerning patent, regulatory and commercial obstacles to the commercialization of generic or biosimilar products, as well as in related commercial and licensing disputes.

Jim has first chaired cases at the PTO before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, including through trial, and advises clients on trademark infringement and clearance issues. Jim has served on the Editorial Board of the International Trademark Association's Trademark Reporter and has served as a moot court judge through several organizations, including the International Trademark Association.

Jim serves on the firm’s Public Service Committee. He has been active representing individuals on death row, challenging convictions and challenging methods and protocols used in executions.  This work and the work of a many others at Crowell was recognized in the firm’s receipt of the 2018 Exceptional Service Award from the ABA’s Death Penalty Project

Jim was Law Clerk to the Honorable Judge Shirley Wohl Kram, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, from 1988-1990.
