Overview

Crowell’s lawyers and professionals in Shanghai and across the firm’s U.S. offices advise multinational corporations on doing business throughout the Asia-Pacific region, and Asia-based companies on issues in the U.S., EU, and beyond. China

In China, our lawyers and professionals help clients with complex, cross-border transactions and investments, particularly those that involve the potential conflict of U.S./EU/UK law and quickly evolving Chinese law relating to issues such as sanctions, export control, data privacy, and cybersecurity. We also assist Chinese companies with intellectual property protection and with respect to assertions of infringement of their products. We regularly work with our colleagues in other offices on regulatory matters involving China and other jurisdictions in areas such as antitrust and competition, U.S. international trade, international tax, biotech, cybersecurity and privacy, retail, labor and employment, intellectual property, internal investigations, international arbitration, and commercial litigation.

Singapore – C&M International

Through its base in Singapore, C&M International helps clients shape the fast-evolving policy and regulatory landscape across the Asia-Pacific region. Clients engage us to leverage forums like APEC and ASEAN, and our team has crafted policy and public affairs initiatives in partnership with industry associations, academics, NGOs, and other stakeholders throughout Asia.

Early Insights and Projections on Digital Policy in a Second Trump Administration

While it is unclear at this stage what exactly a second Trump administration means for U.S. digital, technology, and trade policy, one thing that is clear is that it will involve major changes, especially as it relates to the potential for high, broad tariffs. Media reports and commentary and recent personnel appointments give some early clues on what else a second Trump administration may do. It is an open question as to which Biden administration policies a second Trump administration keeps, revises, or scraps (like Biden administration executive orders on artificial intelligence) and which policies and strategies from the first Trump administration it revives or revises. It is also unclear the extent to which a second Trump administration will consider the interests of allies and close trading partners and whether the Trump administration will pursue its own vision for global technology governance at the G7 and other fora.  ...
