Overview
Miguel Tan evaluates complex issues and trends and turns them into actionable analysis for clients to shape policy in global health. His professional interests include global public health and international affairs, ensuring clients remain ahead of key issues and policy developments.
In his previous role at ACCESS Health International, Miguel’s areas of focuses included analyzing regional health policy and closing gaps in access to treatment, including co-authoring a whitepaper assessing cardiovascular disease policy in the Asia Pacific region. He has represented ACCESS Health at prominent events including the 28th Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology Congress and the Singapore Fintech Festival 2022. Miguel also worked on projects in digital health, gender policy, and climate change and health.
Miguel’s career started as a civil servant in the Singapore Ministry of Health at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tasked with providing risk analyses for the country’s COVID-19 task force, he gained once in a lifetime experience and skills when it comes to rapidly distilling complex data for policymakers and translating insights into tangible policy actions. Miguel also worked on the WHO International Health Regulations National Focal Points, focusing on facilitating the exchange of information on public health events of concern. These early experiences shaped his career, making him particularly passionate about global health policy and pandemic preparedness.
Miguel communicates in English and Mandarin. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Life Science (honors with distinction) from the National University of Singapore.
