Overview

Kevin Cacabelos focuses on education, artificial intelligence, and technology law, representing clients in both state and federal courts. His experience spans a wide array of legal issues, particularly those affecting universities and educational institutions, including compliance with Title VI and Section 504.

Kevin is committed to pro bono work, maintaining an active docket that underscores his dedication to social justice. He has played a pivotal role in drafting amicus briefs for the Supreme Court and federal district courts, advocating on behalf of universities, educational organizations, and civil rights groups. His pro bono efforts extend to representing clients in police misconduct and immigration matters.

Kevin earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he served as the supervising articles editor for the Berkeley Journal of International Law. He was an active member of the Board of Advocates Appellate Team, competing in the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition and the James Patterson McBaine Moot Court competitions. His leadership extended to his role as a student coordinator for the La Raza Workers’ and Tenants’ Rights Clinic, where he provided legal services to predominantly immigrant workers, advising on issues such as wage theft, discrimination, retaliation, unemployment, and COVID-19 safety.

Before embarking on his legal career, Kevin taught U.S. history and coached high school basketball in Los Angeles and Seattle as a member of the Partners in Los Angeles Catholic Education Corps. He holds an M.A. in secondary education and a B.A. in history and Spanish from Loyola Marymount University, where he was honored with a presidential citation for his excellence in the classroom, leadership, and community service. Kevin remains committed to supporting Catholic schools in underserved communities and serves as the vice chair on the Lumen Christi Academies Board of Directors.
