Overview

Justin Kingsolver is a litigator based out of Crowell & Moring’s DC office.  Justin litigates complex, large-scale commercial cases, with special focus on antitrust and healthcare matters.  His practice spans federal and state courts and arbitration panels across the country, including the courts in Arizona where he resides.  Justin helps some of America's most recognizable companies resolve their highest-stakes business disputes.  

Justin also devotes substantial time to pro bono service, focusing on LGBT civil rights, voting rights, asylum, and criminal justice reform matters.  He is proud to serve on the National Leadership Council for Lambda Legal, which he has supported for nearly a decade.

Before entering private practice, Justin worked in national politics (most recently, in the General Counsel’s office on a presidential campaign) and in the federal government (most recently, at the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice).  He attended the University of Michigan Law School, where he chaired the Michigan Law LGBTQ affinity group and was national moot court finalist.  Before that, he attended Indiana University where he graduated with highest honors and Phi Beta Kappa.  During college, Justin was Indiana University’s Student Body President and active in state and federal politics.

LITIGATION NOTE: Eighth Circuit Adopts Crowell’s Arguments in Important LGBTQ+ Rights Litigation

Washington – September 17, 2024: The United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit recently adopted arguments put forward by Crowell & Moring lawyers in a case opposing an Iowa law that bans school officials from discussing gender identity or sexual orientation with students (its “Don’t Say Gay” provision) and requires the removal of certain books from Iowa public school libraries (its “Book Ban” provision)....

  • Ongoing litigation and arbitration of complex, multibillion dollar reimbursement disputes between health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, and retail pharmacies.
  • Ongoing defense of a major airline in a federal antitrust class action concerning network capacity decisions.
  • Ongoing defense of national health plans against claims by out-of-network healthcare providers, including defunct COVID testing labs.

 

  • Ongoing defense of a national pharmacy benefit manager in antitrust litigation against a state attorney general.

 

  • Ongoing defense of a global automobile manufacturer in federal, nationwide class actions alleging consumer protection and product liability claims.
  • Ongoing cybercrime enforcement matters against cybercriminals and their state sponsors on behalf of major tech firms.
  • Ongoing defense of a Class I railroad in defense of a multidistrict class action antitrust litigation alleging conspiracy to fix fuel surcharge prices.
  • Successful defense of an Israeli transportation company and its senior executives in a DOJ criminal antitrust investigation.
  • Successful defense of United Airlines in an antitrust litigation against DOJ related to the acquisition of slots at Newark-Liberty International Airport. The case was dismissed.
  • Successful defense of AT&T in a DOJ civil antitrust suit stemming from DirecTV's negotiations over SportsNet LA. The case was dismissed.
  • Representing Humana in a highly publicized merger investigation, and subsequent litigation, relating to its proposed merger with Aetna.
  • Representing an automotive technology company in IP and trade secrets litigation.
  • Successful litigation on behalf of seven low-income D.C. residents in suits against landlords to rectify unsafe housing conditions, secure alternative housing, and fend off pretextual eviction attempts.
  • Successful representation of a federal inmate in proceedings before the U.S. Parole Commission, in which we secured parole for our client after he spent more than 32 years in federal prison.
  • Ongoing representation of LGBT asylum applicants from Russia and Venezuela.
