Overview

Janet A. Pioli’s practice encompassed strategic counseling for large patent portfolios, patent clearance and due diligence, patent prosecution supervision, inter partes reviews, and advertising review and clearance. She had a large and successful appellate practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and she made multiple oral arguments before each.

Janet’s practice included diverse technologies, including medical devices, food packaging, diagnostic devices and systems, navigation systems, heavy truck transmissions, health supplements, loudspeaker systems, personal care products, beverage containers, industrial pumps, ice maker systems, pool chemicals, copier system chemicals, and food and beverage products.

Janet served on the Board of Visitors of the Northern Illinois School of Law. She served as an officer for area organizations, including the Richard Linn American Inn of Court, and was a past president of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago. Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Janet had been a shareholder at Brinks Gilson & Lione, where she served on its board of directors.
