Overview

Allyson McKinstry is a partner in the Litigation Group in Crowell & Moring's New York office. 

Allyson’s practice focuses on a broad spectrum of complex commercial, consumer, and retail litigation, including defending class actions and multi-district litigation. She represents clients from a broad range of industries, including automotive manufacturers, health insurers, financial institutions, retailers, and technology companies.

Allyson has extensive experience litigating in state and federal trial courts, as well as different arbitral forums. She also regularly represents clients in connection with third-party subpoenas.

Allyson has been deeply involved in analyzing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on commercial contracts generally, and retail leases in particular.  She regularly presents and publishes on these issues, and is currently representing numerous clients in connection with litigation arising from the pandemic.

Allyson was a law clerk to the Honorable Brian M. Cogan, U.S. District Court Judge in the Eastern District of New York. Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Allyson was an associate at the New York office of a national law firm.

During law school, Allyson served as managing editor of the Pace Law Review. She also participated in several Moot Court competitions and received Best Oralist honors in the Pace Grand Moot Competition. Allyson was a co-founding member of the Pace chapter of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and member of the Honor Board. She also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Denise L. Cote, U.S. District Court Judge and the Honorable Lisa Margaret Smith, U.S. Magistrate Judge, both in the Southern District of New York. 

Prior to practicing law, Allyson was an investigator with the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, Division of Consumer Affairs.  During her five years with the Division, Allyson conducted investigations into the business practices of numerous corporations, including lending institutions, insurance companies, and retailers.
