Washington – November 9, 2023: Michael Shaheen, former trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice Commercial Litigation Branch’s Fraud Section, has rejoined Crowell & Moring. Shaheen returns as a partner in the firm’s Health Care Group where he will focus on False Claims Act cases and healthcare fraud and abuse. He will also work closely with members of the firm’s White Collar and Regulatory Enforcement Group.

Washington — August 3, 2020: Crowell & Moring is expanding its False Claims Act, complex investigations, and litigation prowess with the addition of Preston Pugh, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois, former litigation and compliance investigations counsel at GE Healthcare, and three-time appointed compliance monitor. Pugh joins the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner, serving on the steering committee of the firm’s False Claims Act practice, and will work across Crowell & Moring’s Government Contracts, White Collar and Regulatory Enforcement, Labor & Employment, and Health Care groups.

Washington, D.C. - November 4 , 2009: Crowell & Moring LLP's Los Angeles office has added five prominent litigators to its growing California roster. The additions include partners Michael L. Cypers, a proven trial lawyer with more than 25 years of experience from Mayer Brown LLP, and Mark R. Washington, D.C. - March 17, 2009: Crowell & Moring LLP client USA Environmental Inc. of Tampa, FL, has been fully vindicated in a False Claims Act (FCA) lawsuit. A longstanding service provider to the U.S. Government, the company was the subject of a lawsuit brought by U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) and his former firm, Grayson & Kubli, LLC, on behalf of former USA Environmental employee, Patricia Howard. The suit was dismissed for lack of merit and a final judgment was entered on behalf of USA Environmental, Inc. on March 13th.

Washington, D.C. – October 8, 2007: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce the addition of partner Robert Rhoad to the firm's Health Care and False Claims Act groups. Based in the Washington, D.C. office, Rhoad represents both health care and government contract clients in complex litigation matters involving fraud and abuse, False Claims Act (FCA), antitrust claims, and criminal and civil government enforcement actions. A large portion of Rhoad’s practice is devoted to representing health care industry clients, including providers (private, Medicaid and Medicare), insurers/payors, and pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. In addition, he represents non-health care industry government contractors, including defense contractors and other companies that contract with federal and state governments as well as with international entities.
