Washington, D.C. – May 30, 2023: On May 18, 2023, a jury in the Circuit Court of Montgomery County, Maryland, following a nine-day trial, acquitted Crowell & Moring pro bono client, Annbel Massillon, of all twelve criminal charges against her.

Text messages and other non-email, electronic communications have become increasingly important in securities fraud matters. These communications are often sent from personal mobile devices and often provide key evidence.  It has become clear that the most interesting, and sometimes most problematic, communications often do not take place via email.

On October 30, 2023, President Biden released an Executive Order (EO) on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).  This landmark EO seeks to advance the safe and secure development and deployment of AI by implementing a society-wide effort across government, the private sector, academia, and civil society to harness “AI for good,” while mitigating its substantial risks.
