GAR is one of the leading journals of public and private arbitration.

Washington – July 1, 2021: Latinvex has named Ian A. Laird, co-chair of Crowell & Moring’s International Dispute Resolution Group, as one of Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers. The list is developed by Latinvex’ editorial and research staff using data from their annual survey of international law firms, as well as publicly available data. This is the third consecutive year Laird has been selected for the list.

Washington – November 5, 2019: Crowell & Moring’s White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group has been named to the Global Investigation Review’s 2019 “GIR 100” list, which honors the world’s leading firms for corporate investigations. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the firm has been recognized for this honor.

Washington – August 4, 2017: The American Lawyer has named Crowell & Moring partner Stuart Newberger its “Litigator of the Week” for his role in achieving a federal appellate victory on behalf of victims of terror in a multi-billion-dollar lawsuit against Sudan.

Washington – July 30, 2017: A federal appeals court in Washington on Friday ruled that Sudan must pay billions of dollars in damages to victims and their families of the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania for its role in harboring and financing the terrorists who carried out the attacks.

Washington, D.C. -- June 10, 2103: General Motors Co (GM) prevailed in the matter Saab Automobile v. General Motors Co when Judge Gershwin Drain of the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Michigan granted General Motors Co's motion to dismiss the $3 billion lawsuit accusing GM of effectively forcing Swedish automaker Saab into bankruptcy by expressing lack of support for the proposed sale of Saab to a Chinese automaker. Crowell & Moring represented GM in this matter.

The honor was bestowed at the NYSBA's annual Justice for All Luncheon on January 28, 2010 to attorneys who performed 50 or more hours of pro bono service in 2009.

Washington, D.C. – Sept. 27, 2004: With legal representation by a team of Crowell & Moring attorneys, the District of Columbia Public Schools emerged victorious Sept. 15 after a federal judge denied a motion by class counsel for special education students to hold the school system in contempt and for the appointment of a Court Monitor to oversee and investigate DCPS’s processing and payment of invoices for private providers of special education services. The plaintiffs claimed the school system was in violation of a 2002 court order requiring that invoices submitted by providers of special education and related services be paid within 30 days of receipt, or disputed within 20 days. Despite DCPS’s diligent and successful efforts to identify and address barriers to compliance, the plaintiffs filed their motion for relief with Judge Paul Friedman who oversees the class action. Judge Friedman denied the motion, ruling that, in light of DCPS’s efforts and “substantial improvement,” the plaintiffs’ motions for “punitive” relief was inappropriate, and that a Court Monitor was unwarranted.
