New York – February 24, 2025: Crowell & Moring counsel Derick D. Dailey has been named one of the “57 Most Influential Black Lawyers in the Northeast” by the Northeast Black Law Students Association (NEBLSA) at its 57th Regional Convention in Boston. This award acknowledges Black attorneys whose contributions have left a lasting influence on both the legal profession and their communities.
Additionally, Crowell & Moring’s New York office received the Law Firm Excellence Award during the convention. The award was given to five firms that supported NEBLSA throughout the year by hosting subregional academic retreats; Crowell hosted the largest retreat for the New York City subregion in September 2024.
With prior prosecutorial experience at both the federal and state levels, Dailey represents clients facing state attorneys general inquiries and investigations, as well as in complex commercial litigation and investigative matters.
Dailey previously served as senior counsel to New Jersey’s attorney general and assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Delaware. He is an adjunct professor at Fordham Law School and has been named an Obama Foundation USA Leader for 2024-2025, a leadership program designed to inspire, empower, and connect emerging leaders across the country. Earlier this month, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity selected Dailey as a member of its 2025 class of Pathfinders.

Washington – February 21, 2025: Missouri health care providers will be able to resume abortion care after a Jackson County Circuit judge temporarily blocked the Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers (TRAP) last week. The TRAP restriction, Missouri’s abortion facility licensure requirement, had been left in place in a previous ruling and prevented providers, like Planned Parenthood, from resuming care, despite the state’s voters’ enacting an amendment on November 5, 2024, to enshrine a right to reproductive freedom in the Missouri Constitution. With this ruling, Missouri becomes the first state in the nation to restore abortion access after a total ban.
