New York – June 3, 2024: Derick Dailey, counsel in Crowell & Moring’s Litigation Group and based in New York, has been named to the National Black Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 list.
Membership in the organization is by invitation only and limited to the top lawyers in each region based on their “reputation for providing excellent legal representation and [being] leaders in their respective practice areas.”
A former federal prosecutor, Dailey represents clients facing state attorneys general inquiries and investigations, as well as in complex commercial litigation and investigative matters. He previously served as senior counsel to New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin, where he served as a member of the executive leadership team and advised the attorney general on both civil and criminal matters. Dailey oversaw the state’s Division on Civil Rights, spearheaded statewide public safety programs, led the office’s Racial Justice Initiative and helped lead the Voter Protection Initiative and Reproductive Rights Strike Force. He also represented Platkin on New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s Wealth Disparity Task Force and on the state’s Criminal Sentencing and Disposition Commission.
The National Black Lawyers is a professional honorary organization established to promote the nation’s top black attorneys and to enhance the professional development of its members. The 40 Under 40 recognition was “created to celebrate legal excellence by promoting attorneys as subject-matter experts [and to develop] a strong national network of top African American attorneys.”
In addition, Dailey was recently selected to serve on the national board of the Pipeline to Practice Foundation, which supports and nurtures low-income law students at critical academic and professional development stages by providing access to programming and coaching critical to achieving academic excellence in law school, developing the skills necessary to be successful attorneys, creating pathways to leadership positions, and becoming role models to the next generation of law students.

Washington – February 21, 2025: Missouri health care providers will be able to resume abortion care after a Jackson County Circuit judge temporarily blocked the Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers (TRAP) last week. The TRAP restriction, Missouri’s abortion facility licensure requirement, had been left in place in a previous ruling and prevented providers, like Planned Parenthood, from resuming care, despite the state’s voters’ enacting an amendment on November 5, 2024, to enshrine a right to reproductive freedom in the Missouri Constitution. With this ruling, Missouri becomes the first state in the nation to restore abortion access after a total ban.
