Crowell & Moring Named Law Firm of the Year by Public Law Center

Orange County – August 28, 2020: Crowell & Moring is recognized as the 2020 Law Firm of the Year by the Public Law Center for its pro bono service. The award was presented on August 24 at the Public Law Center’s annual Volunteers for Justice dinner, held virtually this year and featuring a keynote address from Valerie B. Jarrett, former senior advisor to President Barack Obama.

Attorneys and staff in Crowell & Moring’s Orange County office contributed 2,576 pro bono hours in 2019. Led by partner Deborah E. Arbabi, who serves on the Public Law Center’s board of directors, Chahira Solh, and Daniel A. Sasse, Crowell & Moring supported the Public Law Center in various matters including a series of consumer fraud cases on behalf of elderly homeowners who were victims of fraud arising out of the Residential Property Assessed Clean Energy Program and 9th Circuit immigration appeals. In addition, C&M attorneys routinely participate in the Domestic Violence Clinic and the Federal Pro Se Clinic, which are organized and supervised by the PLC.

The Public Law Center is Orange County’s nonprofit pro bono law firm and provides access to justice for low-income and vulnerable residents. For almost forty years, the Public Law Center has worked alongside over 1,600 members of the Orange County legal community, including lawyers, paralegals, law students and other volunteers annually, to provide free civil legal services.
