Washington – August 8, 2024: Savoy named Crowell & Moring partners Preston L. Pugh and Keith J. Harrison to its 2024 list of “Most Influential Lawyers.” According to the publication, this award honors powerhouse lawyers “whose legal prowess and commitment to excellence inspire the highest levels of corporate and legal leadership.”
Pugh is a trial lawyer and co-chair of Crowell’s False Claims Act practice. A former Assistant U.S. Attorney who has successfully tried several federal cases, Pugh is also a three-time appointed corporate compliance monitor, and a former head of investigations and commercial litigation at GE Healthcare. Clients rely on him for advice in complex government and internal investigations, high-stakes litigation matters, significant regulatory enforcement issues, substantial reputational concerns, and the implementation of remedial measures and compliance programs. He is recognized in the defense bar and enforcement community for his work in the development of corporate compliance policy. In 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) sought his input into the development of its whistleblower incentives pilot program. In 2022, he served as one of the “experts in corporate ethics and compliance” that DOJ consulted in announcing policy reforms in its “Further Revisions to Corporate Criminal Enforcement Policies” memo (the September 2022 “Monaco Memo”). He is a voting member of the ABA Criminal Justice Section Council, a member of the board of the NYU Program and Corporate Compliance and Enforcement, and a published author, having recently co-authored the first-ever chapter on the False Claims Act in the the Global Investigations Review Guide to Compliance.
Harrison is a partner in Crowell’s Litigation Group, a former New York City prosecutor, and a seasoned trial lawyer with a track record of winning big cases for major industry-leading companies. Examples of such cases include: recently securing breach of contract wins for one of the nation’s largest health plans, achieving arbitration awards of $120 million and $660 million; gaining dismissal with prejudice of a $1.5 billion False Claim Act case for one of the largest U.S. airlines; and winning a month-long jury trial on one of the key biotech patents for the blockbuster drug Humira®. Harrison’s practice focuses on complex trial, arbitration, and investigations representing companies in highly regulated industries, including health care, pharmaceutical, tech, defense contracting, and aviation. He is chair of Crowell’s Public Service Practice, where he oversees the firm's pro bono program. He has led the firm’s 16-year pro bono effort to secure the freedom of Crosley Green, a man who has spent more than three decades in prison for a murder he did not commit. The hard-fought case continues today and has been featured on CBS 48 Hours, Washington Post, Florida Today, and other top media. Harrison is a former co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Group and was twice elected to Crowell’s Management Board.

Crowell & Moring Represents Nuclear Energy Startup Atomic Alchemy in its Acquisition by Oklo
March 11, 2025: Oklo Inc. (NYSE: OKLO), an advanced nuclear technology company, announced on March 5, 2025 that it has closed the $25 million acquisition of Crowell client Atomic Alchemy Inc. (“Atomic Alchemy”), a leading innovator in radioisotope production. Oklo intends to use this strategic acquisition to establish a more reliable domestic supply chain for high-value radioisotopes critical to healthcare, research, and defense sectors and provides synergies to Oklo’s fuel recycling and nuclear energy businesses. Demand for radioisotopes is expected to increase significantly over the next decade, while global supply struggles to keep pace due to aging reactor infrastructure and a fragmented global supply chain, which at present is dominated by countries outside the United States. Atomic Alchemy intends to be a low-cost U.S. radioisotope producer that can provide a secure and domestic supply of radioisotopes to U.S. companies commercializing innovative radioisotope applications. With its proprietary VIPR® technology, Atomic Alchemy is building the first scalable production facility to provide a reliable, sustainable source of high-value radioisotopes. Using a vertically integrated model and fuel recycling, in partnership with Oklo, Atomic Alchemy is transforming isotope production to address global shortages, support critical applications, and strengthen national security. The core deal team included Samuel Holland Edwards, Jon O’Connell, Justin Lurie, and Ryan Flynn.
