New York – July 11, 2022: Crain’s New York Business named partner Juan Arteaga to its 2022 Notable Diverse Leaders in Law feature. This award recognizes diverse and female attorneys who have served as role models or mentors, promoted diversity and inclusion initiatives, provided exceptional services and results to their clients, and shown a strong commitment to pro bono work. Each nominee also had to be involved in either community or philanthropic activities, and to self-identify as representing diversity in the workplace—including women, people with disabilities, African Americans, Latinos, Asians, and other underrepresented groups.

In announcing this year’s list, Crain’s notes that greater diversity within New York’s legal industry will help ensure that all New Yorkers receive high quality legal representation and can rely on the counsel who can relate to and be sensitive to their unique backgrounds and needs. Crain’s applauded the honorees for “forging a path for others—women, minorities and members of other underrepresented groups—to travel.”

Crain’s profile of Arteaga highlights his roles as co-chair of Crowell’s New York Antitrust Practice and the firm’s Diversity Council and his work representing Fortune 500 companies and senior exectuives in civil and criminal antitrust investigations and commercial litigation. In addition to citing his representation of Samsung, Mozilla, and CSX Transportation, among other high-profile clients, the publication notes Arteaga’s pro bono work on behalf of domestic violence victims, senior citizens, undocumented immigrants, and indigent criminal defendants. His Chambers USA ranking and recognitions by Law360 and the New York Law Journal are also noted.

“As a firm, we are absolutely delighted that Crain’s has recognized Juan’s extraordinary leadership in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Glen G. McGorty, managing partner of Crowell’s New York office. “Inclusivity and community involvement have been pillars of our firm since its founding. As a superlative role model and mentor, Juan has been instrumental in furthering our efforts to attract and retain diverse lawyers, and an inspiration to us all by his dedication to improving the lives of New Yorkers in need.”
