Are you well prepared for a visit (without notice) from the social inspection?
The Director General and General Advisor of the Directorate General Inspection Services, National Social Security Office (NSSO) will help you be prepared. 

Whether announced or not, a visit by the social inspection never comes at the right time. However, if you are well prepared, half the work is done. On March 12, 2020, the Director General and General Advisor of the NSSO will give you useful advice and explain the dos and don’ts, so that your company can be fully prepared for any potential inspection.

During the first part of the seminar, the Director General and General Advisor will answer the following questions: What is “the social inspection" and what exactly can it inspect? What are the concrete powers of the social inspection during a visit? What can it do/not do? How does the social inspection choose to inspect a particular company or sector? Does the social inspection cooperate with other inspectorates and does it provide them with information?

In a second part, the social inspection will answer your specific questions. Can employees be interviewed (in your absence)? Are your employees required to answer the inspectors' questions or do they have the right to remain silent? Does the social inspection have to wait for a lawyer to be present before starting an inspection?

Optimaal voorbereid op een (onaangekondigd) bezoek van de sociale inspectie?
De Directeur-generaal en Adviseur-generaal van de Algemene Directie van de Inspectiediensten, RSZ, leren u hoe.

Een bezoek, aangekondigd of niet, van de sociale inspectie komt nooit echt gelegen. Een goede voorbereiding is evenwel al het halve werk. De Directeur-generaal en Adviseur-generaal van de Algemene Directie van de Inspectiediensten (RSZ) zijn bereid u, op 12 maart 2020, een aantal inzichten en do’s and dont’s mee te geven zodat uw onderneming optimaal voorbereid is op een eventuele controle. 

In een eerste deel gaan de Directeur-generaal en Adviseur-generaal in op de vragen: Wie is ‘de sociale inspectie’, en wat kan/mag zij precies controleren? Wat zijn de concrete bevoegdheden van de inspectie bij een bezoek? Wat mag en wat niet? Hoe komt de inspectie bij een bedrijf/een sector terecht voor een controle? Werkt de sociale inspectie samen met andere inspectiediensten, en geeft zij informatie door?

In een tweede deel beantwoordt de inspectie uw concrete vragen. Mogen de werknemers verhoord worden (zonder uw aanwezigheid)? Moet u/uw werknemers antwoorden op de vragen van de inspecteurs, of bestaat er een zwijgrecht? Moet de inspectie wachten op de aanwezigheid van een advocaat vooraleer een controle aan te vatten?

Le Directeur général et Conseiller général de la Direction Générale des Services de l’Inspection, ONSS, vous aident à vous y préparer. 

La visite de l’inspection sociale ne tombe jamais bien, annoncée ou non. Cependant, quand on est bien préparé, la moitié du chemin est fait. Le 12 mars 2020, le Directeur général et le conseiller général de la Direction Générale des Services de l’Inspection (ONSS) vous prodigueront d’utiles conseils et vous expliqueront les « do’s and dont‘s » afin de préparer votre entreprise de façon optimale à une éventuelle visite de l’inspection. 

Dans une première partie, le Directeur général et le Conseiller général répondront aux questions: Qu’est-ce que "l'Inspection Sociale", et que peut-elle vérifier exactement ? Quelles sont les pouvoirs concrets de l'inspection lors d'une visite ? Qu'est-ce qu'elle a le droit de faire ou de ne pas faire ? Comment l'inspection choisit-elle de contrôler une entreprise ou un secteur spécifique? Est-ce que l'inspection sociale coopère avec d'autres inspections et leur transmet-elle des informations ?

Durant la seconde partie, l'inspection répondra à vos questions spécifiques. Est-ce que les travailleurs peuvent être interrogés (en votre absence) ? Est-ce que vos travailleurs sont tenus de répondre aux questions des inspecteurs ou ont-ils le droit de garder le silence ? L'inspection doit-elle attendre la présence d'un avocat avant de commencer une inspection?

"The Tide is High: New Guidance on Sea-Level Rise," The Bar Association of San Francisco

Jon Welner will be interviewing Larry Goldzband, the Executive Director of the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC), on the Commission’s new plan to prepare the SF Bay Area for sea-level rise. BCDC is the agency responsible for permitting all development on the shoreline of San Francisco Bay. On December 5, 2024, the BCDC adopted the Regional Shoreline Adaptation Plan (RSAP). The RSAP is a region-wide plan for the San Francisco Bay shoreline that guides the creation of coordinated, locally planned sea level rise adaptation actions that work together to achieve a regional One Bay Vision. This includes BCDC’s guidelines for how local governments must meet the requirements of SB 272, a new State mandate that requires all local governments along the shoreline to prepare a Subregional Shoreline Adaptation Plan by 2034.
