Calibration in action: Building a data warehouse
Blue Margin partnered with our Innovation and Talent and Inclusion teams to develop firmwide utilization and diversity, equity, and inclusion reporting using Azure Synapse Analytics and Power BI. Over 10 weeks, the combined team built a data warehouse and deployed a reporting suite that improves our visibility into both productivity and diversity. The automated data pipelines and architecture also enable the integration of additional data sources, so we can adapt the solution and reports to evolving business requirements. Blue Margin’s legal industry experience and diligent project management enabled us to scope and budget the project in advance and deliver the first iterations of our new reporting on schedule.
Visualizing variances: Turning 50-state survey reports into easy-to-use interactive maps
Engineer.Legal brought a 50-state survey created by our Labor and Employment Group to life through HighQ Collaborate and Engineer.Legal’s add-ons, EngineerMap and EngineerTable. The original PDF survey of the law, covering 80 questions across all 50 states relating to compliance considerations for companies with newly remote and out-of-state workforces, was hundreds of pages long. Working with Engineer.Legal, our Innovation team was able to turn the bulk of that survey into a series of interactive maps, with tables containing key points below each map, providing a modern, client-friendly way to access the survey information and compare states according to key criteria. Engineer.Legal and our Innovation team tied the same underlying data set to HighQ’s legacy document automation functionality to produce long-form by-state reports so clients could have the best of both worlds from the same underlying data. Our Remote Worker Survey Service site is now an ongoing client-facing subscription service that formed the basis of other maps-based services and deliverables falling under our Crowell Compass offering.
Filings as photons: Federal filings everywhere all at once
PacerPro is a legal technology provider known for facilitating faster, cheaper access to federal filings and dockets. We worked with PacerPro to leverage its technology across the firm, automatically putting federal filings everywhere they needed to be. To start, we ensured that every litigator across the firm was synced up to PacerPro so we could automatically receive free copies of filings in every case in which a Crowell attorney was the attorney of record. We then updated the emails by which filings were delivered to attorneys to include an alert if the client matter number was missing. With more comprehensive client matter associations, we were able to integrate PacerPro with iManage, eliminating the administrative burden of storing filings, and become the first firm to integrate PacerPro with HighQ Collaborate in order to provide our clients with real-time access to docket updates and filings. With these upgrades, we’ve seen significant savings on PACER fees, enhanced productivity, and attorney peace of mind regarding case updates and access to federal filings.
Modernizing monitoring: RegUP for regular updates
Sente Advisors worked closely with our Innovation and Digital Health teams to reenvision and rebuild regUP, Crowell’s proprietary solution for delivering real-time updates to clients regarding fast-moving areas of law. RegUP started as custom-built software heavily influenced by COVID-19-related work. As we looked to expand the offering, we needed a more flexible and cost-effective solution. Sente Advisors worked with us on all aspects of the service, including people and process considerations, and ultimately used a no-code platform to rebuild the technology in a way that made sense for us and our clients. The new regUP is easier to use and faster to deploy, and it gives us the flexibility we need to continue to make updates based on real-world feedback.
