Overview

Judy is a patent litigator who helps clients solve complex legal disputes involving intellectual property, trade secret and licensing issues. She represents small and large companies across various industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, agricultural, and vaping, from pre-suit to post-trial/appeal before federal courts. Judy primarily focuses on district court litigation and has experience with representing clients in mediations, arbitrations, preliminary injunction hearings, post-grant proceedings, and ITC investigations.

In addition to her primary practice, Judy is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion; mentorship; and pro bono work. She has successfully represented immigrant children with obtaining predicate orders for special immigrant juvenile status in Illinois state courts and immigrant families with obtaining asylum in Chicago Immigration Court. In 2024, the American Bar Association named Judy to the 2024 “On the Rise” list. Judy was also a recipient of the National Immigrant Justice Center’s Rising Star Award in 2021, and she was recognized twice by the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service as a Pro Bono Leader for her contributions in 2020 and 2021 to the ABA’s Free Legal Answers project.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Judy was an extern with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, the largest legal program in the Department of Homeland Security, and she was a Public Interest Law Initiative Fellow at the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights. Judy also participated in the ABA Section of Litigation’s Judicial Intern Opportunity Program by serving as a judicial intern to the Hon. Linnea E. Thompson in the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit of Illinois, and she is currently the Regional Co-Chair of the Illinois program.
