Retired Partner

Overview

Gustavo Siller Jr. is a retired partner in the Chicago office. Gus helped companies navigate U.S. intellectual property laws to protect their investment in technology and to identify and minimize the risks of bringing sophisticated technology into the markets. He was experienced in helping companies decide when to litigate and when to settle and in executing individualized dispute-resolution strategies for best results.

Gus’s diverse background in telecommunications, computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering is invaluable to companies involved in telecommunications and internet technology, analog and digital technology, medical devices, semiconductor technology, expert systems, and software-related technology.

As a litigator, Gus helped enforce intellectual property rights in innovation against infringement and leverage the rights through licensing and other transactions. He had also defended technology companies against infringement claims brought by both competitors and NPEs.

Gus helped companies advance and execute portfolio development strategies to protect their technology investment. He supervised portfolios containing thousands of new patents each year to help execute business strategies.

He worked with companies from China, Japan, and Korea to identify and minimize the risks of bringing sophisticated technology to U.S. markets.
